When I was in my early twenties, I quit my job as a graphic designer in a promotions company to start freelancing.
I’ll never forget the way my manager said to me, ‘Running a business is really hard you know?’
I was picking up what she was putting down.
She thought I was never going to make it.
In my young, fearless and naive state I packed up my desk on my last day, excited for what was to come.
Whenever someone has told me I couldn’t do something I’ve always felt like a bull with a red flag waving in front of me.
Looking back at the various businesses I have started since then, I can’t believe how close I was to cracking that elusive success code, yet I was still so far away.
All the pieces of the puzzle were there, but it took me over 10 years to work out how to put them into the right places to create the masterpiece.
I remember trying to outsource the sales part of my website design business. I thought to myself, I just need someone to bring me the sales so I can work on the designing part.
If only I’d had a crystal ball that could have shown me the future and said, ‘Work on the profit producing areas of your business. You need to be driving the ship. You need to be making the sales. Outsource the rest.’
That slight flip 10 years ago could have meant I’d found success much earlier.
But, it wasn’t meant to work out that way.
I had a journey to go on.
My story needed to be written.
The events in my life, the experiences I have had, the pain and the emotion…
It has all manifested into the success of where I am today.
Little did I know, everything I’d ever wanted was there waiting for me the whole time.
But way back when…. I would have been too young to understand the power of it.
The time was not right, I wasn’t ready.
So, I wouldn’t go back and rewrite my history.
I have no regrets.
No failures.
Nil mistakes.
For I perceive them only as learnings, guidance, aligning.
And what I want to say to you, is that no matter where you are right now, believe you are there because you have something to learn.
You can’t fail if you choose to see it as a detour in your journey.
You are meant to be exactly where you are, right now.
Trust in the process.
Have faith.
Know in your heart everything you have ever wanted is already here.
It will reveal itself to you in exactly the right amount of time, at the perfect moment of your life.
