Tell us a bit about you?

Hi there, I’m Charlotte, Owner of The Bambino Bible: Newborn Services Directory. I live on the beautiful mid-north coast of NSW in Coffs Harbour, with my gorgeous 2 year old daughter & ever-patient husband. I’m a classic ‘multi-passionate’ Pisces girl, with some of my biggest loves including babies, fitness, road trips, business & a little wine!

Tell me a bit about what you were doing before you got in contact with Business Jump?

Pretty much what I’m doing now, but without my business! In the 10 months before Business Jump, I had closed my business as a Sleep Consultant, moving back to Coffs Harbour to be closer to our family & work part-time in Real Estate. I still felt the overwhelming urge to honour my passion in babies and Motherhood, hence the dream was born!

Why did you want to start your own business, what is your why?

Having grown up with my parents as successful business owners, owning my own business has always been my direction. After my journey into motherhood, The Bambino Bible was a natural fit for me, combining my love of all things baby, parenting, and business. I am so passionate about ensuring that families have access to support services they need, as I know how valuable they were to my journey & how much they shaped my relationship with my daughter, and myself as a Mother. I think the expectations of Mothers, and parenting, are set too high in this modern age, and for some reason we are expected to just ‘know it all’, rather than to seek help that is actually so readily available. My purpose is to break this stigma.

How long had you wanted to start a business before you actually took action and took the
jump?

A friend of mine was actually discussing Business Jump, and it sounded like an amazing concept so I jumped onto to check it out. Having owned a few blogs/businesses prior, I instantly knew that this was ‘different’, and was perfectly aligned with what I wanted to create. I think in total it was around a month of researching & soul-searching before I signed up.

If you hadn’t of started your own business what do you think you’d be doing right now?

I currently work in the Real Estate industry too as my ‘day job’ which I love and would be more than likely be doing the same thing except without The Bambino Bible with me!

What have you done differently because of Business Jump that you wouldn’t have done if
DIY’ing?

Everything! I’ve created blogs & websites before, however I never had any true direction after the launching point. Being a part of Business Jump & the private group is honestly like having a private business coach on board. The constant exposure to new growth strategies, funnel implementation, scripting & dialogue etc. has immensely helped me get through the launch phase.

Tell us about your business?

The Bambino Bible is an online ‘newborn services’ directory, focusing on connecting parents Australia-wide to services such as Lactation Consultants, Sleep Consultants, Birth Workers, Pediatric Chiropractors, Post-Natal Support Services and many more. Whilst our main purpose is to provide a one-stop-shop for parents to search for these services, a huge part of our work is also focused on creating a ‘judgement-free’ community of authentic, uplifting & positive Mums & Dads, providing information about all facets of parenthood on our site, and engaging with like-minded parents on our social media channels. It’s so important to us that parents from regional towns & major cities alike can access the same help & support that is so vital to confident & positive parenting journeys.

How did it feel when you got the reins to your business to take out into the world?

Overwhelming. Exciting. A little bit of everything, all rolled into one! Personally, I’m a huge believer in the power of blind confidence & a ‘Fail hard. Fail Fast’ mentality. Launching your business into the world requires that you 100% believe in your cause, and yourself, so I tried to embrace all the feelings of doubt yet focused on putting one foot in front of the other & just kept moving things forward.

How many hours a week do you work on your business?

It really varies as to what’s happening on a week to week basis, and what stolen moments I can get in between a toddler & my other job! At the moment, it would be around 10 hours a week, and increasing.

What are some of your most special ‘business wins’ you’ve had to date?

  1. After approaching several businesses to come on board The Bambino Bible during our pre-launch phase, we ended up with close to 90% saying ‘Yes’ to listing with us at the launch. It was huge personal validation for me, knowing that these amazing businesses could see our potential, believed in our vision & wanted to work with a very new start-up.
  2. We’ve just reached over 3,700 followers through our social media channels, with over 15,000 monthly views on Pinterest too. For a company that officially launched in April 2018, it’s a great feeling to know that we are connecting & engaging with so many like-minded parents and providing value to the businesses who have come on board.
  3. Since launching, we’ve had several businesses approach us cold, asking to be listed, which was a huge compliment given we have only just started ‘getting out there.’

Where do you want to be in 5 years?

Hopefully, with another baby under my wing & a booming online business! I think like any Mum, my goal is to enjoy the first few formative years with my children, before the craziness of 10-12 years of formal schooling begins, so I’m fortunate enough that I now have a business that lends itself to the flexibility of that ‘Mum-balance’, and very supportive family & friends. My husband & I would love to pack the kids up & travel for 6 months before school starts, so my goal is to get business to a point where this is possible!

What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone thinking about starting their business?

Work on your fears. Mindset plays a HUGE part in the success of any business, and I think for most that don’t start, there are factors of fear at play…fear of failure, fear of the unknown, fear of judgement etc. So my advice would be to recognise your own fears, work on them, and then jump head first into business with that inner knowledge. It doesn’t mean your fears will cease but acknowledging them will mean you’ll be able to see when they are blocking your progress.
