Did you know you might not be as productive as you could be?

How often do you wake up in the morning and think, I have so much to do today it’s ridiculous!

You set yourself a to-do list, but life just gets in the way and before you know it, it’s midnight and you are frantically trying to get it all done.

Oh wait, that might just be me!

I found some great little tricks on my search for peace and tranquility that I just had to share with you.

I found there are a couple of hidden tricks that can make your day go from disaster to bliss in one fell swoop and they are easier than you think.

Set a Calendar:

Now, you might look at this and think, der, I have a calendar and it works just fine.

But how many times do you move your calendar schedules around or miss one or two things because “more important things” have cropped up?

This happens all the time. But if you stick to your calendar and actually do all the tasks you had set for the day, it will clear space in your mind. You see, your subconscious is always sitting there in the background, holding onto small pieces of information that we probably don’t need. Things like sending an email or making a phone call. We don’t do them and they sit there in a secret compartment in our minds, jumping front and centre every now and then to remind us we still haven’t done it.

That causes stress. Even if you don’t realise it.

By simply completing your to-do list, you have cleared your mind of the day’s tasks.

Anything new just goes onto tomorrow’s list. Once it’s there, you don’t have to worry about it until tomorrow.

Now I am mainly referring to your business tasks, because let’s face it, life tasks are always urgent. But prioritise what needs to be done and what can wait. Don’t get sidetracked with the things that you can put on tomorrow’s to-do list or calendar.

Get Up Early:

Did you know that by getting up earlier, or before everyone else in the household, you can set your day on your  own terms?

It’s amazing how in that 15 minutes or even an hour of peace of quiet while everyone else is still asleep, how much you can get done.

Now, I will confess, I am not a morning person. Never have been.

But on the days I have been up earlier than usual, I’ve had the best days. I’ve been so productive and even more driven.

If you’re not a morning person and you need your shut eye, the best way to combat this is to reshuffle your bed time.

You need sleep, that is a no brainer.

So make sure you are going to bed earlier, so you can be up earlier. You will be amazed at the difference, even with the same amount of waking hours, you will be more productive because you have set the day on your terms, not in a reactionary state.

Get Better at Repetitive Tasks:

There are tasks we do so often, they become second nature to us. Sending an email, scheduling social media posts, folding washing. It doesn’t matter what it is, if you master that task and learn to do it in the quickest time possible, you will save so much time!

This doesn’t mean looking up the best app to help you do things faster. It simply means learn your programs better, learn their hidden secrets. An app is only as good as the person using it.

Did you know gmail has shortcuts? Keyboard shortcuts that you can use to save you time clicking your mouse. Seems simple and silly yeah, well try mastering your shortcuts and over a days worth of emails, you can save yourself bags of time.

Set templates for your emails. If you send the same thing over and over again, have it saved so you only have to copy and paste and edit as opposed to completely rewriting it.

So, they are 3 super simple tasks that you can change tomorrow to make your days more productive and your general mindset more positive.

Go on, give it a try!
