Where Are They Now? Case Study with Laura.

by admin
After I hand over a business I love, love, love watching it come alive and grow into a rewarding new project for the purchaser.
I worked with Laura a few months ago, we tailored the business concept to suit some ideas she had in mind and since she has taken it over, it has been given TLC and has become a hive of beautiful products and customers.
Check out Laura’s Facebook page and Instagram, it is totally her jam! Laura’s images are beautiful and inspiring and she is conveying a story about her brand within them.
I caught up with Laura and got the low down on how she is going and why she choose to work with Business Jump.
Nat: What were you doing before you started your business?
Laura: I worked in public relations in New South Wales. This allowed me to develop skills in social media, website development and maintenance, branding and promotion.
Nat: Why did you want to start your business?
Laura: My family recently moved from NSW to Port Hedland in Western Australia for my husband’s work. Having four children under six and no family support I decided it would be too difficult to work a ‘traditional’ job here, as my husband works extremely long hours. I discovered that there is very little on offer here in terms of children’s clothing – Kmart is our only option! So, I decided to start Three Men and a Little Lady.
Nat: Why did you choose Business Jump?
Laura: I saw an advertisement on Facebook from Business Jump and contacted Natasha to find out more. She then worked with me to further develop my idea and look at a strategy for making it happen! I had already decided my business name, and had an artist draw my logo. I really wanted to include my children in some way, and the name and logo is perfect.
Natasha then worked away on my website and marketing tools.
I found the whole process seamless and extremely professional. Not only is she clever, she is friendly and a dream to work with – the perfect mix!
Nat had the expertise to point me in the direction I needed to make sure I didn’t waste time and money in the start phase, which has been instrumental in helping my business generate an income for me quickly.

Nat: Tell us about the idea behind your business and story of your logo…
Laura: I came to Nat with quite a specific idea in mind about how I wanted my branding to be. I really loved the idea of including my children in my business name and the idea of a hand-drawn logo seemed fitting. It was hard to find someone who fit that vision, but Natasha suggested I search for an artist on Etsy. A couple days later I had secured a fantastic artist in Canada – Katie from Sunnyblossom Designs. I sent through some photos of my children and a week later she delivered the most beautiful logo package to me.

Nat: How is business going?
Laura: Business is going extremely well!
Not only do I have my website, selling children’s clothing, accessories and decor, but I also set up pop up shops around the Pilbara region.
I realise that to be successful these days I need to be active on social media so I have put a lot of effort into developing my social media strategy. I am working on securing new brands to keep the business ‘fresh’ and have been warmly received by the local community.
